The Who Did It Club
Â
There is a small non-descript building on Hillcrest Road in Simcoe, Ontario that is the homebase for a very special and unique group of men serving Norfolk County. On the sign, festooned with red Poppies is the Who Did It Club. They keep the membership small, on average, about 25 members, and what is the fine work that these men do for our community since the end of WW2? The Who Did It Club will provide to those in need, completely free of charge, assistive medical devices from wheelchairs, walkers and crutches all the way to a fully functioning hospital bed for the home.
The club was founded in 1944 by a group of local servicemen after they returned from Europe. Seeing the devastation that injuries and sickness could cause they made it their goal to help returning veterans that had been disabled. Over time the emphasis shifted to the community and the Who Did It Club now serves the elderly and the disabled in the Norfolk County area. These young men created a one-of-a kind service club that has benefitted the people of Norfolk County for over 70 years. What a legacy!
The Who Did It Club is completely self funded through fundraising and donations. They accept donations of gently used equipment and refurbish it or buy new. The club holds two very popular Beef BBQ Socials in the summer to help raise funds. Call the Club at 519-428-0271.
